Professional Golfers Career College offers a Specialized Associate's Degree in Professional Golf Management. The degree program lasts two academic years (4 semesters of 4 months each for a total of 16 months), and contains 72 semester units, including 16 semester units in general education. Each course is worth one or two semester credits, and the program consists of approximately 41 courses.
The objective of the program is to help the student attain a fundamental grounding in professional golf management, including an introduction to the theory and practice of golf shop operations, methods of golf teaching, golf rules, and country club managment. Prospective enrollees are encouraged to visit the physical facilities of the school and to discuss personal educational and occupational plans with school personnel prior to enrolling or signing enrollment agreements.
The college serves students who seek leadership positions in a variety of golf-related organizations. Therefore, students can expect a broad-based golf education that covers the many distinct aspects of professional golf management. The curriculum progresses through each semester with a mix of general education subjects, and courses that focus on specific aspects of professional golf management. Students delve into core industry topics from the very first day of class.
Every semester, the faculty and administration meet to review the content of each class in the academic program, to recommend curriculum changes, new course offerings, and new resources to the administration. In addition, in order to keep curriculum content and direction relevant, the directors of the college maintain continual contact with influential leaders in the golf business. This feedback loop provides not only ongoing curriculum relevance, it also assures open dialogue when it comes to placing graduates, since no one knows better what skills are desired from golf industry employees than those doing the hiring!
And of course, our own graduates are a valued source of guidance in keeping the curriculum fresh. A detailed questionnaire is periodically sent to all PGCC graduates in order to gauge how effective the academic program was in preparing them for success in their current careers.
Classes til Noon, Golf til Dusk
The Professional Golfers Career College (PGCC) is more than a golf academy and more than a golf school, it is golf education in the fullest sense of the term. Certainly, the PGCC program includes golf training, golf instruction, golf lessons, golf teaching, golf classes and all the components that, ideally, you would expect to find in a golf college that offers a broad-based program. However, even a cursory review of the PGCC program will reveal an academically expansive curriculum leading to the awarding of a specialized golf degree as an entry credential into the golf business as a true golf professional prepared for a wide variety of golf careers.
